Whitby
Picturesque fishing port, and site of Whitby Abbey, where captain James Cook sailed to discover
Australasia. Steeped in history for many years, there is a fine museum, and lots of narrow streets to explore. Also often seen in TV's "Heartbeat." St. Mary's church features in Bram Stokers' Dracula.
