THE HERON
Long time favourite of mine, not easily found around here, though often seen flying past, or by pond owners! i found my first one a long time back when passing alongside the river esk,on its journey to Whitby, on the north east coast. much patience is required when looking for this elusive bird, and i found some using a nearby lake, but at some times i never see one for weeks at a time, then they suddenly return, but will often scatter at the site of a human. much patience is required, but in some areas they are quite plentiful.
